While creepy crawlies love the warmer Queensland weather, it doesn’t mean they disappear when the temperature drops.

In fact, they may have moved inside your home, where they’re residing in cracks and crevasses as they seek warmth and shelter.

Winter Pest Control Tips

We understand that pest control might not be on the top of your to-do list during Winter, but it can be a good idea to rid your home of creepy crawlies before Summer (when they make the most of those prime breeding conditions).

Plus, if you can prevent the pests from becoming a problem when its cooler, you’ll avoid the Summer pest treatment rush.

Here are some other tips to reduce your chances of sharing your home with vermin.

1. Take your bins out regularly: If you empty your bins every day and take the rubbish outside, you’ll be removing possible food sources for pests.
   
2. Keep clutter to a minimum: Pests love to make themselves comfortable in storage areas which aren’t cleaned or accessed regularly. It is a good idea not to hold onto paper clutter, where possible, and turn over other cupboards frequently.   
   
3. Ensure doors to outside are closed: Keeping doors closed to your patio or outdoor areas can prevent pests – especially rodents and spiders – from sneaking inside, because once they’re inside they might not want to leave!
   
4. Seal any gaps:  Many pests are tiny and will do what they can to weasel their way into the warmth and comfort of your home. Pests can also slip inside through broken windows and fly screens – so if you’ve been putting off any repair jobs, now’s the time to do them!
   
5. Trim trees and shrubs near your home: This will give the pests fewer places to hide, and when they are around you’ll be more likely to see them.
